The world's oldest travel firm Thomas Cook collapses

The world's oldest travel firm Thomas Cook is filing for bankruptcy, stranding hundreds of thousands of holiday makers around the globe. The company made the announcement on September 23, saying it has ceased trading and it would work with the British government to bring more than 150-thousand customers back home over the next two weeks. The move is set to be Britain's largest ever peacetime repatriation effort. Thomas Cook runs hotels, resorts, airlines and cruises for 19 million people a year in 16 countries.
