What happened in Iran?

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck northwestern Iran early Friday, killing at least 5 people and injuring over 300. Dozens of houses were damaged. The quake hit Iran's Eastern Azerbaijan province, 400 km (250 miles) northwest of Tehran.
