"There was no family separation at Ellis Island," Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, told Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen at a hearing Wednesday, saying that in the past, the U.S. has found a way to absorb millions of immigrants from Europe. "We have surpassed our 'color quota.' There are those who believe that we already have too many people of color in this country .... one of whom who happens to be the president of the United States of America," he said.
