Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., pressed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to answer what she did after seeing images of immigrant children held in "cages," "to scream bloody murder up the chain to the president, to say, "'I cannot represent an agency that is forcing its Border Patrol to do this.'" Nielsen answered that she visited the border and government facilities, and worked to stop illegal border crossings. Slotkin also asked whether any border agents had been transferred from the Northen border to the Southern border to fill staffing gaps. Slotkin noted that the volume of trade is much greater through the Northern border, and asked about the number of people on the terrorist watchlist who come from both directions.
