During the last day of Democrats’ opening arguments in the Senate impeachment trial, Rep. Adam Schiff, the lead House manager, said President Donald Trump was manipulated based on his personal interests to perpetuate Russian propaganda. Schiff said he expects U.S. adversaries put together a psychological profile of Trump and will find that he could be easily swayed. “If a president can be so easily manipulated to disbelieve his own intelligence agencies, to accept the propaganda of the Kremlin, that is a threat to our national security. And that is just what has happened here,” Schiff said. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress—for his alleged efforts to get Ukraine to investigate his political rivals in exchange for lifting a hold on U.S. military aid. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of the two articles of impeachment and removed from office or whether he is acquitted.
