UK law enforcement said during a news conference that a stabbing near the London Bridge has been declared a “terrorist incident.” Police responded to a stabbing near the bridge on Friday, Nov. 29. During the police action, a male suspect was shot by armed officers and died at the scene. A number of other people received injuries. “Due to the nature of the incident, we responded as though this was terrorist-related. I am not in a position to confirm that this has been declared a terrorist incident,” said Neil Basu, assistant commissioner for specialist operations in the UK. “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone involved in this,” he added.
