House Speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed the death of Rep. Elijah Cummings during her weekly news briefing, calling him a "North Star" in Congress. "It's very sad for all of us. We've all lost a friend," Pelosi told reporters. Pelosi noted the late congressman's willingness to work across the aisle and treat colleagues with respect. She also commended a suggestion that House Democrats rename a bill to lower prescription drug costs after Cummings. Cummings died early Thursday from complications from longstanding health challenges. He was 68.
