Washington insider on U.S. policy in Syria

Last month, U.S.-backed forces declared victory over ISIL in Syria. Yet the terrorist group is still making headlines. On Thursday, ISIL claimed its first ever attack in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A search is underway for hostages taken by ISIL fighters. That leaves governments around the world with the decision on what to do with people who became ISIL members, but now want to return home. Earlier, CGTN's Tian Wei spoke to Brett McGurk, who served as a special presidential envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS (ISIL) at the U.S. Department of State. He quit his job when President Donald Trump announced last December that U.S. troop would withdraw from Syria.
