The U.S. on Friday blacklisted and sanctioned the captain of the Iranian oil tanker Adrian Darya 1. The ship, formerly called Grace 1, is at the center of a confrontation between Washington and Tehran. The U.S. Treasury Department issued a statement, saying the vessel is "blocked property" under an anti-terrorism order, and "anyone providing support to the Adrian Darya 1 risks being sanctioned." The ship was detained off Gibraltar in July due to British suspicions that it was carrying Iranian oil to Syria. The ship was released mid-August after Iran gave assurances it would not go to Syria.
