Violence Continues in India Over Citizenship Law

Violence continued in New Delhi, Tuesday, February 25, a day after at least seven people were killed and more than 100 injured as a result of clashes between supporters and opponents of a new citizenship law.

Hindus armed with pickaxes and iron rods shouted praises to Hindu deities as they threw stones at a group of mostly Muslims opposing the new law.

India has been plagued with violence since parliament approved the new law that many criticize as anti-Muslim.

The law provides fast naturalization for some foreign-born religious minorities but not Muslims. (AP)
