Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refrained from referring to a revised trade agreement as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) during its signing ceremony on Friday, choosing to call it the "new NAFTA".

Trudeau’s semantics continued to stoke concerns over Canada’s objections to the U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel, which led to speculation whether Trudeau would even attend the signing.
