US President Donald Trump blamed Russia for US withdrawal from a landmark nuclear arms treaty, in remarks from the White House on Friday.

The president said "one side has not been adhering" to the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) and "unless they were going to adhere" the US should not be the only signatory.

He also denied that China played a role in his decision to pull out from the Cold War agreement, in response to a question from a reporter.

The INF was negotiated in 1987 by US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, to eliminate the US and Soviet stocks of intermediate-range and shorter-range landed-based missiles.
