The US women's national football team arrived to a hero's welcome at their New York City hotel on Monday after winning their record fourth World Cup title.
Footage from the arrival shows star players Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Crystal Dunn getting an applause as they step out of the team bus with Rapinoe showing off the World Cup trophy and giving high-fives to the waiting fans and media.
Golden Ball and the Golden Boot award winner, Rapinoe reiterated her stand on equal pay which garnered a lot of attention during their World Cup campaign, saying that "I believe the conversation deserves to be moved to the next step and I think everybody's ready for it." She also spoke about her controversial anti-Trump stance and her refusal to visit the White House, should the team get invited, saying that "the invitation hasn't come yet and it’s been a plentiful 24 hours so I don't think it's coming."
The USA defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the FIFA 2019 Women’s World Cup played at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon on Sunday.
