A play based on anti-Trump text messages sent between two undercover FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page was performed at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC on Thursday.

The messages exchanged between the two were revealed in 2017, exposing their anti-Trump sentiments as the two engaged in an affair while investigating the president for alleged election collusion with Russia.

The play, called "FBI LOVEBIRDS: UnderCovers," was initially slated to be filmed before a live audience at the Studio Theatre in the American capital, but after a threat of violence the venue cancelled the performance.

The creators eventually found a new location for the play at the amphitheatre of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

The author of the project, Phelim McAleer, explained that "many in the FBI were really ashamed" by the two agents "politicizing the FBI." Hollywood actors Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson will be filmed reading transcripts of the messages in front of the audience, and afterwards the recording will be published online.
