The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in coronavirus-hit New York City is being turned into an emergency field hospital amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Footage filmed on Tuesday shows the closed cathedral, with empty streets in front of it.

The cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of New York​ is expected to receive 200 COVID-19 patients this week, with 400 beds and three tents already set up, according to media reports.

According to figures released by Johns Hopkins University, New York City has registered 76,876 coronavirus cases, with more than 4,000 deaths.
