Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said there was "no information about losing a drone today" in an interview from the United Nations headquarters in New York on Thursday.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the US Navy "destroyed" an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz.

"The issue of the drone is still under investigation and based on the last information that I received from Tehran, we have no information about losing a drone today," Zarif said.

He was responding to comments from Trump, who said the USS Boxer "took defensive action" against an Iranian drone, which he said "had closed into a very, very near distance, approximately 1,000 yards, ignoring multiple calls to stand down and was threatening the safety of the ship and the ship's crew."
