A partial US government shutdown entered its 22nd day on Saturday, making it the longest such closure in US history.

Footage filmed in Washington DC on Saturday shows a number of museums and landmarks closed due to the government shutdown, including the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of American History.

The US government partially closed on December 22, in a political impasse sparked by US President Donald Trump's demand for funds to build a wall along the US-Mexico border, one of his key campaign pledges.
