George W Bush delivered an emotional testimony to his father, former president George HW Bush, during a state funeral in Washington DC on Wednesday.

Bush junior, himself a former president, lauded his "decency, sincerity, and kind soul."

At the end of his eulogy, Bush's voice broke when he described his father as "a great and noble man, the best father a son or daughter can have."

Senior world figures gathered in the US Capitol to pay their respects. All surviving presidents were pictured sharing a first row pew.

Bush senior, who served as the 41st US president between 1989 and 1993, died on Friday at the age of 94.

He will be buried in his home state Texas, alongside his wife Barbara.
