Dozens of protesters rallied outside the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, where US President Donald Trump was attending a rally alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The objective of rally was to "tell the international community that they have to pay attention to stop the genocide in Kashmir," one of the protesters said.
Another participating in the rally said her compatriots in Kashmir are suffering "atrocities of [an] unbelievable inhuman nature," including rape and "shooting pellets in childrens' eyes."
Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir has been on lockdown since the beginning of August, when India stripped the region of its autonomous status. A curfew, restrictions on travel, communications and movement were all imposed. The move sparked outrage in Pakistan, which responded by cutting off diplomatic and economic ties with India.
