Friends and family staged a surprise social distancing-friendly homecoming parade for a teenage girl after her last chemotherapy session, in Pasadena, California on Tuesday.

15-year-old Courtney "Coco" Johnson looks overcome with emotion in the footage, which was shared by her mother April Danz, as dozens of relatives and supporters can be seen lining the sides of the road with messages and balloons welcoming her home and celebrating the end of her treatment.

Johnson had an Ewing sarcoma, a tumour in her left femur that had to be treated with more than twelve chemotherapy sessions and two surgeries, making her miss her first year of secondary school, forcing her to study from home.

Her recent chemotherapy places Johnson at a higher risk of severe illness if she were to contract the coronavirus, of which there are now over 86,000 cases in the US, as well as over 1,300 related deaths.
