Donald Trump has declared the US will be "open for business" again in a matter of weeks rather than months as the American economy plunges due to strict COVD-19 social distancing measures.

The US President says the sweeping restrictions on everyday life, which have seen tens of millions of people confined to their homes, will be reassessed soon.
