U.S. Congress has approved a spending bill to avert another government shutdown. It also includes about 1.4 billion U.S. dollars of funding for new barriers along the southern border, a fraction of the 5.7 billion President Trump wants for a wall.

Both the Senate and the House backed the bill, which provides over 300 billion dollars for several government departments and agencies.

The White House says Trump will sign it into law, but he also plans to declare a national emergency to obtain federal funds for a wall.
