Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and Commerce Minister Zhong Shan have spoken by phone with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The call on July 9 was the first official contact since trade talks resumed just over a week ago. China's Ministry of Commerce said they exchanged views on implementing the agreement reached between the presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka. Also at the same day, U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the government will issue licenses to companies seeking to sell goods to Chinese telecom giant Huawei. In May, Washington had placed the company on an Entity List over national security concerns.
