In order to stop the spread disease and hindering of disaster recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Texas has launched aerial attacks by the US Air Force on mosquitoes swarming coastal regions of the state. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services on Wednesday, C-130 cargo planes began spraying insecticides over three eastern Texas counties this past weekend and will expand to other areas over the next two weeks. The department went on to add that as of Tuesday this week, around 1.85 million acres have been treated. According to the DSHS, mosquitoes that appear after floods are not disease-carrying but can hurt recovery operations by swarming residents and disaster workers.
