UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent an unsigned letter to the European Union requesting a Brexit extension. The letter was accompanied by one signed by Johnson in which he argues a delay would be a mistake. The prime minister was forced by law to ask the EU for an extension, after losing a vote in the House of Commons on Saturday. EU Council President Donald Tusk tweeted he had received the extension request and will consult EU leaders on how to react.
Meanwhile, protesters have filled the streets of London demanding another referendum on the UK's departure from the European Union. CGTN's Kitty Logan has more.
