The targeting of Muslims in two New Zealand mosques has prompted police in the UK to increase their patrols at British mosques.

At least 49 people were shot dead when a man carrying multiple rifles opened fire in the mosques in Christchurch.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the 'ripples of hated' against Muslims had been felt across the community.

Following recent warnings about the rising threat from right-wing extremists, today police were ordered to increase patrols at British mosques.
