Commercial banks in Uganda say the recent drop in the prime lending rates by the Central Bank is straining their operations. According to Stanbic Bank - Uganda, the drop in the key-lending rate has cost banks close to 30 million dollars. Commercial Banks argue that despite the rate cuts, demand for credit remains low.
