Female Turkish lawmakers of the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) staged a protest inside Turkey's parliament in Ankara on Sunday, to protest the government's lack of action against gender-based violence in the country.

Footage shows the lawmakers banging on their desks as they sang a Turkish version of the Chilean feminist song protest "The rapist is you," while many held photos of victims of femicide in front of the male-dominated cabinet.

Last week, protesters singing the feminist anthem in the capital were dispersed and arrested by police.

The protest song went viral across the world after it was initially performed by Chilean activist group Las Tesis.
