President Donald Trump on Tuesday forced out John Bolton, the United States's national security adviser with whom he had significant disagreements on Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea and a raft of other geostrategic challenges.

But John Bolton insists he resigned. The two had increasing arguments because Bolton had wanted to take a hardline stance against those countries while Trump had wanted to reduce the US's military presence abroad.
