US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are addressing the media after bilateral talks and a working lunch.

President Trump supports the Japanese leader's proposal to use his country's good ties with Iran to help broker a possible dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

Abe described the alliance between the US and Japan as "unshakeable, the closest in the whole world", saying their policies were completely on the same page.

Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay joins us from Tokyo to discuss this.
