The Trump administration will soon detain migrant children at a military base once used as a Japanese internment camp.

The plan was confirmed by Department of Health and Human Services in an email to Business Insider.

The email stated that Fort Sill military base has been "activated" as a "temporary emergency influx shelter" for the children.

The department said it's taken custody of more than 40,000 unaccompanied migrant in the current fiscal year.
