Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday that both Canadian and allied intelligence has found evidence the Ukrainian airline plane that crashed on Wednesday near Tehran was “shot down” by an Iranian missile.

Trudeau said it may have been unintentional.

“We have intelligence from multiple sources including our allies and our own intelligence that indicates the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile,” he said.

There were 176 passengers and crew who died when the plane crashed in a field minutes after takeoff, including at least 63 Canadians.
