At least eleven people have died after Tropical Storm Vicente lashed Mexico's Pacific in southern Mexico, Oaxaca state civil protection authorities reported on Sunday.

Torrential rainfall caused the Valle Nacional River to burst its banks close to the town of Chiltepec in the state of Oaxaca, flooding homes.

Residents were seen wading through waist-high water, while troops tried to evacuate trapped residents using a boat.
