The Tibet Human Rights Progress Forum is being held in Geneva, as part of the United Nations Human Rights Council regular session. According to the forum, Tibet has gained huge momentum developing its economy since the 1980s. The region used to rely on agriculture and farming, but now, the southwestern Chinese autonomous region has diversified its industries, with locals benefiting from tourism and the medical industry.
