Tens of thousands of people have returned to the streets of Hong Kong to protest against what they say is Beijing's growing political influence in the city's affairs.

But what started as a peaceful march in the suburb of Sha Tin, ended in violence, as riot police charged towards demonstrators in a shopping centre.
