Thousands attended a military parade of Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) celebrating the victory over a so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in Syria in the city of Qamishli on Thursday. Military personnel were seen marching with YPG flags and driving army vehicles with musical band also performing at the event. YPG is now controlling a huge part in the northeast of Syria bordering Iraq and Turkey, which considers it a terrorist group. On March 23 the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the "total elimination of the so-called caliphate and 100 percent territorial defeat of ISIS" in Syria.
