The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) appear to have taken control of Sukayk, a town in the northern Syrian countryside, in the footage filmed on Tuesday, which shows clashes between the SAA and militant forces on the frontline, in the south of Syria's Idlib Governorate.

Footage shows soldiers waving a Syrian flag from on top of a tank as well as smoke rising over militant positions as they are bombarded.

On August 5, the SAA resumed military operations in Hama and Idlib, after saying militants were not abiding by the terms of a truce that was negotiated in Kazakhstan.

The ceasefire required the implementation of a buffer zone as agreed upon in a Turkish-Russian deal last year.
