The Stockholm District Court has convicted US rapper A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage of assault for beating 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari in a June 30 street brawl, in the Swedish capital on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference after the hearing, Senior District Court Judge Per Lennerbrant said that the court "has convicted all three defendants of assault in this case, and that they have been given conditional sentences." He went on to say that the assault "has not been of such a serious nature that a custodial sentence should be something that must be chosen."
The judge stated that the defendants were found guilty of assaulting Jafari, who he said were "hitting and kicking" the man while he lay on the ground.
The Swedish court has reportedly rejected the rapper's claim of self-defence and ordered the defendants to pay 12,500 Swedish krona ($1,300/€1.165) to the plaintiff in damages.
