At least three protesters and an officer were reportedly killed and several others were injured when unidentified elements opened fire on a sit-in protest outside Sudan's military headquarters in Khartoum on Monday.

Footage shows ambulances on site as victims are seen being carried away.

The incident came shortly after the ruling military council and protest leaders declared early Monday they had reached an agreement regarding the formation of a transitional government.

Sudan's public prosecutor had also announced its decision to charge ousted president Omar Al-Bashir with killing of protesters in rallies leading to his military removal on April 11.

The ruling military council has reportedly blamed the incident on armed groups unhappy with Sudan's political transition.
