Statins Are Over Prescribed According To New Study
Friday 07 December 2018 03:36 CET
Researchers at the University of Zurich are offering new guidelines that would reduce the number of people prescribed statins by half. According to UPI, a new study shows that many patients take statin medications unnecessarily, which then increases their risk of developing cataracts, diabetes and liver damage. Milo Puhan, a professor at the University of Zurich, said in a news statement; "Ultimately, this measure helps to prevent heart attacks or strokes in only a few cases. But all people who take statins are at risk of experiencing the side effects".
