A state funeral has been held in Bangladesh for former President Muhammad Ershad.

The former general played a major role in politics for decades - leading the country for eight years after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1982.

He died last Sunday at the age of 89 and leaves behind a mixed legacy.

Al Jazeera's Tanvir Chowdhury reports from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
