Sri Lankan police carried out a controlled explosion after discovering a 'suspicious' motorbike parked near the Savoy Cinema, in Colombo on Wednesday.
According to reports, police received information of possible explosives inside the bike and decided to destroy the vehicle when they were unable to open its seat. Reports indicate that the remains of the vehicle were found to be free of explosives.
At least 359 people were killed and a further 500 were injured on Sunday, during the Easter weekend, when eight seemingly coordinated explosions rocked the Asian country, with hotels and churches in both Colombo and two other cities being targeted.
A Sri Lankan government spokesperson admitted during a press conference in Colombo on Monday that there had been warnings from intelligence agencies about possible terrorist attacks on Christian targets in the country.
