Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez visited, Thursday, January 23, the areas affected by Storm Gloria that has killed 8 people as it rampaged across eastern Spain, destroying rice paddies in the Ebro river delta and triggering weather alerts for three dozen provinces.
READ MORE: Sanchez toured in helicopter the flooded rice paddies in the Catalan province of Tarragona and was due to speak to media in the Balearic Islands later in the day.
LLuis Soler, the major of the affected town of Deltebre, said on his Twitter account he has asked the government to call the town as "catastrophic zone" as water carried by Gloria has reached up to three kilometres inside town.
Gloria has unleashed since Sunday, January 19, winds of up to 144 km/h and waves up to 13.5 meters high. (Reuters)
