UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez Perez-Castejon held a press conference in Madrid, Monday, during the COP25 climate conference that was inaugurated in the morning.
The press conference started at 17:30 local time (16:30 GMT) at press room Chiloe, at the Ifema venue.
Guterres addressed the importance of taking decisions towards actions and compromises on the reduction of emissions, as well as support on mitigation for those affected by climate change.
On the other side, Perez-Castejon thanked all the delegates who attended on the first day of the conference, that was designed to take crucial steps in the UN climate change process. He also defended multilateralism and the necessity on activating new action.
Sanchez also announced his purpose for reaching climate neutrality with the reduction of one out of three of every tonnes of what is being produced, a new green deal, and a bigger budget on green energy.
"Following agreement on the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement at COP 24 in Poland last year, a key objective is to complete several matters with respect to the full operationalisation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement."
COP25 will be taking place in Madrid from December 2 until December 14.
