Thousands of pensioners from all over Spain took to the streets of Madrid on Wednesday to demand "fair pensions".

Protesters want the next government, following this November's general elections, to adjust pensions in line with CPI and raise the minimum pension to €1,080 ($1,195)per month.

Under the slogan “Whoever forms the government, public pensions should be protected", protesters marched from the Puerta del Sol to the Congress of Deputies. The crowd chanted slogans and carried banners with messages such as "Grandparents in struggle for their rights" or "More pensions, less thieves ”, among others.

Footage show how some of the protesters were marching in wheelchairs or using canes. There was a police presence in front of the Congress of Deputies.
