Hundreds gathered in the Spanish town of Viladecans, near Barcelona, on Wednesday to protest against Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez as he held an electoral rally there.
The protest was reportedly organised on social media by the 'Picnic for the Republic' Catalan independentist group. People were seen protesting in front of the Cubic, a venue where Sanchez held his rally. The area was guarded by police and fenced off from the protesters.
Barcelona and its environs have been rocked by demonstrations since Spain's Supreme Court jailed nine politicians for between nine and 13 years for their role in Catalonia's secession attempt and an illegal independence referendum in 2017.
