At least 1000 ANC supporters rallied outside the Zondo Commission investigating allegations of corruption involving former South African President Jacob Zuma, who appeared in front of the commission on Monday in Johannesburg.

Members of the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) and the MKMVA (Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association) veterans association marched in front of the commission in support of the former president, who gave a speech before attending a graft hearing.

Zuma resigned in 2018 amid corruption allegations involving the controversial Gupta family, thought to be close allies of the former president, who own several newspapers and TV channels as well as other companies in various industries. They are said to have influenced cabinet appointments and obtained government contracts, though Zuma claims the allegations are part of a conspiracy of character assassination against him
