At least four people were killed and 20 injured when a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle packed with explosives at the Warta Nabada District headquarters, in proximity of the presidential palace, in Mogadishu on Tuesday, according to reports citing the police.
Footage shows the building leveled in the blast with security personnel going through the rubble and wreckage. The victims of the explosion were carried to ambulances present at the site.
"When the explosion happened, food was being distributed among some poor mothers in the district," said Deputy district commissioner on social matters and community Abdishakur Hirsi who said the suicide bomber was driving a minivan.
The al-Shabaab group have claimed responsibility for the blast.
