In 2010, Tunisia was the fifth largest exporter of phosphates in the world. Extraction of phosphate largely contributed to boosting the economy through exports by some 45 percent. Now Tunisia is losing its markets and clients. Since the 2011 unrest, a wave of social demands slowed down the production cycle which recently stopped indefinitely.
