According to a report by Reuters, on Saturday, a winter storm that hammered the Midwest with heavy snowfall, causing several roadway deaths, stranding some motorists, and cancelling dozens of flights, headed east towards Washington. U.S. Weather Prediction Center meteorologist Andrew Orrison said that the storm hit Kansas and Missouri on Friday before extending into parts of Iowa, Illinois, indiana and Ohio on Saturday. The weather system, which reportedly started as rain from Mexico, is forecast to affect an 1,800-mile corridor of the United States from Colorado to the Mid-Atlantic.
